ASUM LEAGUE OF DARTS (LEAGUE NEWS)

Bengeworth Domination, End Of season Review 20/04/24

This season had a record 22 teams enter which meant the league has to expand to three leagues in hand shortening the season with mixed feelings. However the a new Ko out shield was brought in to help create more competition. The Asparagus league was a very competitive league with three teams fighting for the top honours with just three matches left but Bengeworth shone through in the end to take honours with Bret Boyz taking runners up & Talbot just behind. Bengeworth capped off the season with a clean sweep beating Ferrymen in the Asparagus KO Cup then defeating Bret Boyz in the Seven Singles and beating Cidermill in the Spiers & Hartwell Tri Shield to make the quadruple. Top Trumps were the bottom team with H.W.M.C just ahead of them. The Bell Tower league was won by 100 & Amby who remained unbeaten in the league and a 13 point cushion over runners up Ruby Jacks. Saints had a good closing run to take third place. 100 & Amby also made it a double by defeating Bengeworth Nomads in the Bell Tower KO Cup final. Lastly the newly formed Crown league was won by the Swan who also were unbeaten and also made it a double by winning the Crown KO Cup defeating Bengeworth Rangers in the final. Runners up spot in the league was battled between three teams for much of the season but new comers Sons Of Valkyrie took it just ahead of Bengeworth Rangers and Vineyard. I would just like to thank everyone, players, Committee members & sponsors for all of the support and making the season run so smoothly, I know the are a few things that need tweaking and we are always aiming to improve and hopefully will to ensure that every Thursday is a great night. The presentation night will be held at Bengeworth Club on Thursday 16th May with doors open from 8pm.

Season so far 24/12/23

We are now at the Christmas break and over half way through the season so the leagues are settling down to some indication to who will be competing for silver ware at the end of the season. Firstly we look at the Asparagus league where Bengeworth are leading but only by leg difference from Bret Boyz who have quietly climbed the table after a steady start. Early pace setters Talbot Pershore have tailed off recently and are third with Cidermill on the same points. The league is quite close & competitive with all teams being defeated at least twice or more. The Ko cup semi finals are see Cidermill drawn against Ferrymen while a tasty encounter between the two top of the table teams Bret Boyz & Bengeworth should be a cracker.

Meanwhile the Bell Tower League have clear leaders with unbeaten One Hundred & Amby looking clear favourite's to take the title with a 10 point lead already while Ruby Boomers head the pack of six teams which could all have a chance of runners up spot if results go their ways. One hundred & Amby are looking for a double this season as they are in the semi final of the KO cup but have agricky match against Ruby Jacks to get past first, the other semi final will see Bengeworth Nomads take on Gate Inn.

Crown league have the unbeaten Swan at the top with a healthy six point lead the is a tight battle behind between three teams including Sons of the Valkyrie, Vinyard & Bengeworth Rangers. The KO cup has gone to form with the top four league teams all in the semi finals creating two mouth watering matches with Top of the table Swan playing Sons of Valkyrie & Bengeworth Rangers taking on Vineyard.

Other competition news starting with the Seven singles where the last 8 include seven Asparagus teams and just Ruby Jacks making it through from the other leagues. Tie of the round must be Bret Boyz against Talbot Pershore while Ruby Jacks award for progressing is a tough match against Bengeworth.

The Tri Shield is a new competition to the league this season unlike the Sevens has more of a mix of depths from the leagues progress. with only four Asparagus teams progressing although they have all avoided each other in the draw. Coach & Horses have ben drawn away to Bret Boyz while Ruby Jacks have got Bengeworth. Ruby Boomers are host to Cidermill while Gate Inn host Talbot Pershore.

Team on move to new stables (30/10/23)

As from immediate effect the Golden Cross have decided to move to the Coach & Horses and will play under that tittle. The fixtures have all been amended to suit on the website so just keep ream members informed with the change of venue for future matches.

AGM NEWS

This years Agm took place at St Egwins club had a good turnout & was a very constructed night with several big changes to the league. The first change was the introduction of a third league due to the increase in teams to the league. The are six new teams to the league increasing the league members to 22 entries. This has made it impossible to carry on with the old format of playing every team. We will now have three leagues with a two up two down system with teams just playing home & away within their league. It is thought the C league will be named the Crown league after the Crown meadow with keeping with the Asum theme. To help extend the length of the season the will be another competition in which any team from all three leagues could be drawn against each other. Another change in the league will be a cancelled games forfit will now be a 10 nil defeat. The season should start in mid to the end of September.
