ASUM LEAGUE OF DARTS (LEAGUE RULES)

ASUM League of Darts 2026/27 Rules & Regulations

  • 1 - All Regular League Matches consist of 9 Sets (3 Pairs & 6 Singles)

    • 1.1 - All League K.O. Cup Matches consist of 9 Sets (3 Pairs & 6 Singles) | All 9 Sets must be played (unless both team captains agree otherwise)

    • 1.2 - All Seven Singles Cup Matches consist of 7 Sets (7 Singles & Best of 5 Legs)

    • 1.3 - All Tri-Shield Matches will be exclusive to Triples play, with Best of 3 Legs in the 'Divisional Triples', and Best of 5 Legs in the 'Finals'.

    • 1.4 - All Consolation Cup Matches feature the same format as Seven Singles (7 Singles & Best of 5 Legs)

    • 1.5 - All Cup Matches are played on a folded sheet

  • 2 - Pairs is 501, Best of 3 Legs (701, Best of 3 Legs - Asparagus) | Singles is 501, Best of 3 Legs (501, Best of 5 Legs - Asparagus)

  • 3 - In League Matches, whoever is the designated home team will be marking all sets played using either a marker board, electronic scoreboard or tablet with scoring app.

    • 3.1 - In Cup Matches, up until the Semi-Finals in all competitions the home team will mark all sets played.

    • 3.11 - From the Semi-Finals onwards, it will be alternate marking (e.g. Home, Away, Home, Away etc.) Whoever is assigned the 'Home Team' in the tie will mark first.

    • 3.2 - Automated scoring software (Scolia, OMNI, Gran Eye etc.) is permitted in Regular League matches as long as both a marker & caller are active during play in case of system error(s).

    • 3.21 - Automated scoring software is prohibited during cup matches unless granted permission by the Committee beforehand.

  • 4 - Divisional K.O. Cup is a cup for teams in each separate division to enter.

  • 4.1 - It will be an open draw with all teams entering in their respective divisions

  • 4.2 - After each round, the ties will be manually drawn

  • 4.3 - Up until the final, whoever is drawn first in each tie will play at home. For the Final, the games will be played at a venue drawn at random from their division (excluding the teams & their venues remaining in the cup)


  • 5 - Seven Singles is an open cup for all teams to enter, with all losing teams from the first round dropping down to the Consolation Cup.

    • 5.1 - It will be an open draw with all teams entering, no seeding

    • 5.2 - After each round, the ties will be manually drawn

    • 5.3 - Up until the semi-finals, whoever is drawn first in each tie will play at home. From the Semi-Finals, the games will be played at a venue drawn at random (excluding the teams & their venues remaining in the cup)

  • 6 - Consolation Cup will feature all losing teams from the first round of the Seven Singles.

    • 6.1 - It will be an open draw with all losers from Seven Singles first round, no seeding

    • 6.2 - After each round, the ties will be manually drawn

    • 6.3 - Up until the semi-finals, whoever is drawn first in each tie will play at home. From the Semi-Finals, the games will be played at a venue drawn at random (excluding the teams & their venues remaining in the cup)

  • 7 - Bust rule is in effect at all times

  • 8 - Each game starts with the away team throwing first in the bull-off to decide who starts the specified game first. (Coin toss for a match held in a neutral venue)

    • 8.1 - If any set/game goes to a deciding leg, whoever won the bull-off to start the game will throw first in the final leg.

    • 8.2 - Whoever throws for the bull in a Pairs or Triples must start first in order for their respective teams

  • 9 - In League format, each team is awarded the following after each match: Win = 2 Points | Loss = 0 Points

    • 9.1 - If 2 or more teams are level by the end of the League Season, the following tiebreakers will determine each of the teams' rankings:

    • 9.2 - Overall Set Difference

    • 9.3 - Head-to-Head Points

    • 9.4 - Head-to-Head Set Difference

    • 9.5 - Neutral venue play-off (to determine Champion, Runner-Up, Promotion &/or Relegation, otherwise draw)

10 - Promotion & Relegation

  • 10.1 - Asparagus: Bottom 2 teams get relegated to Bell Tower at the end of the league season

  • 10.2 - Bell Tower: Top 2 teams get promoted to Asparagus | Bottom 2 teams get relegated to Crown at the end of the league season

  • 10.3 - Crown: Top 2 teams get promoted to Bell Tower at the end of the league season | Bottom 2 teams get relegated to DeMontfort at the end of the league season

  • 10.4 - DeMontfort: Top 2 teams get promoted to Crown

  • 10.5 - If any new teams enter a new season which could affect the league structure, adjustments could be made regarding the amount of promoted/relegated teams from the previous season to reflect on the updated league format (overwriting rules 10.1 to 10.4)

  • 10.51 - If in case of a brand new division being added that changes the league pyramid, re-calculations will apply in face of the amount of promoted & relegated teams from the previous season.

  • 10.6 - Any new teams that successfully apply to join the league will automatically be placed at the bottom division.


  • 11 - All Match Sheets supplied to every team must have a photo taken of the full result of every match they play during the course of the season (featuring full names, all game results, all 180s, 100+ Checkouts & final score). Photos of each match sheet must be applied & published to the 'ASUM League of Darts' Facebook Page either on the night after the match has concluded or by Friday @ 12:00pm to ensure all results, league tables & cup brackets can be finalised.


  • 12 - All players in each team are limited to play a maximum of 2 Games (1 Singles & 1 Pairs)

    • 12.1 - If a team does not have enough players to fill in a Singles &/or Pairs Set, the specified set(s) need to be marked with a slash on the row in the match sheet & the opposing team will be awarded the set by w/o.


  • 13 - All Regular League & Cup Matches are scheduled to start at 20:00 (8:00pm)

    • 13.1 - If both sets of players arrive early and want to start the game slightly earlier, then they can do so if agreed by both captains.


  • 14 - All Tournaments are scheduled to start at 20:00 (8:00pm).

    • 14.1 - Registration for tournaments close at 19:45 (7:45pm), 15 minutes before tournaments are scheduled to start at 20:00 (8:00pm).

    • 14.2 - All Singles Finals will be played up until the final, where all Singles finals (including Senior & Junior) will be played on Presentation Night.

    • 14.3 - All Divisional Pairs & Triples finals will be played to a conclusion on the same night, crowning the champions.

      14.4 - All venues should require a match board, with a raised oche* & adequate lighting suited for competition

    • 14.1 - *Unless a raised oche is classed as a ‘Health & Safety’ issue at the venue

  • 15 - All venues should require a match board, with a raised oche* & adequate lighting suited for competition

  • 16 - Entry fee for all teams is £50 + a £20 Bond which can cover any fine(s) not initially paid. The Bond will be returned at the end of the season pending reductions, or carried over to next season


  • 17 - All Matches in the League Season have to be fulfilled. Any matches that were unable to be played during the league season will result in a 9-0 scoreline against the team that was deemed to have caused the cancellation of the match.

    • 17.2 - If it was deemed both teams caused the cancellation of a match, the match will be declared null & void, with the match recorded at 0-0 and no points awarded.

    • 17.3 - If a match was postponed due to a force majeure reason (torrential weather, power outage etc.) & couldn't possibly be played before the end of the season, the teams in question will be given permission to play their match after the league season has ended.

    • 17.4 - Teams are advised to let their opponents know if a fixture cannot take place at least 24 hours beforehand via the 'ASUM League of Darts' Facebook Page & the Captain(s) or venue must be notified. Failure to do so will result in a £10 fine

    • 17.5 - If any team(s) have caused a minimum of 3 of their matches to be cancelled, their status for the following season will be put for review by the Committee.


  • 18 - Any individual(s) or team(s) involved with unsportsmanlike, verbal abuse &/or violent conduct could be warned, suspended or banned from participating in the league

    • 18.1 - Issues &/or complaints regarding the League must be brought forward to members of the League Committee. Posting anything regarding said issues is prohibited on the Facebook Page.

    • 18.2 - Each reported incident will be brought up for review by the Committee members


  • 19 - All teams are required to have at least one representative at the AGM. Any team(s) that fail to attend (with exception to prior notice &/or exceptional circumstances) possibly face exclusion from next season if there are reserve teams waiting to join the league

    • 19.1 - All teams are required to have at least one representative at the annual Presentation Night. Any team(s) that fail to do so will result in automatically losing their £20 bond

  • 20 - There's a maximum of 12 Players that can be signed per team, each requiring a nominated captain.


  • 21 - Deadline application for new teams to join the league is on the day of the annual Pre-Season AGM meeting.

    • 21.1 - Any teams that won’t have a representative active (with prior notice given) must request to join the league via contacting the League Committee before the date of the Pre-Season AGM.


  • 22 - The deadline for registering players into teams during the current season will be on a date specified in the League Schedule.

    • 22.1 - A player may be able to sign on after the deadline, only under special dispensation if required due to an emergency or similar reasons. £10 Transfer Fee is required if this occurs & the Committee must be notified in advance of said signing(s) for review.

  • 23 - Once a player has played a minimum of 3 matches for a team, he/she cannot register for another side and would require authorisation from the Committee if they wish to transfer to another team. A £10 fee is required if the transfer is approved by review.

    • 23.1 - If a player successfully transfers to another team with permission from the Committee, he/she is 'Cup Tied' for the remainder of the season meaning, they cannot play against the team they initially played for in the current season.


  • 24 - All teams/players are responsible for returning the cups by the end of the season.

    • 24.1 - Any teams &/or players that have failed to return their cups will have their team bond removed with immediate effect.
